water baby...

i signed jake up for swimming lessons "mommy and me in the pool" classes.  he loves the water and i love for him to be doing something all most of the time.  the first day went great and he had so much fun.  the second day was colder and he whined most of the time which was strange.  sure enough he woke up the next day not feeling well.  maybe i got too eager and i should have waited for warmer weather.  oh well...we'll be back!

15 months old

may 23, 2011. jake had his well-check up today. health...good. development...good.  ears, eyes, etc...good.  blah, blah, blah...now, let's get to the important stuff.  how much does he weigh, how tall is he and is he bigger than most kids his age?  i don't know if its a samoan thing or just a male thing but that's the main reason matt comes to the appointments, secretly hoping his boy will be tall enough to be a potential Laker.  the verdict...29 lbs. (95th percentile) and 34 inches tall (over 100th percentile).  he grew 3 inches in 3 months.  dr. was shocked satisfied with overall growth but on her way out told us to get rid of the Goldfish crackers make sure we're giving him healthy snacks.
                         life wears him out!

well rounded

jake is such a physical kid.  he runs, plays, bangs, throws and destroys like no other.

but he also has a great intellectual side.  he loves to read look at books and will sit by himself and turn pages and make sounds.  he brings matt and i books to read to him and sits so still to listen.

pleased with himself.  so am i.  all the time.  no matter what.
(i know, i know...lose the bib, but he's still drooling teething.)

age appropriate tantrums?

i'm still not a full believer that they are tantrums and not just creative ways of expression.  here's an example of what jake does when something is taken away or he doesn't want to do something.  1) sit down hard on his butt (look at us) 2)throw himself back on his elbows (look at us) 3) let elbows go and fall on shoulders (look at us) 5)hit head on the floor softly but enough to make a noise (look at us).  can it be defined as a tantrum if it's strategically broken down into 4 steps and no crying or screaming is involved?
