father's day

matt always wants to be the "least fussed over" person so we had a chill day hanging out at home.  i tried to let him sleep in but jake decided to wake daddy up with his new "drum" that grandma jeanene bought him.  and then in only-child fashion, daddy put together jake's new toy on father's day.  but matt wouldn't have it any other way.  when i see them together, it amazes me how protective and proud he is of his son.  the love and adoration he has for jake is indescribable.  jake can do no wrong in daddy's eyes and i know it'll always be that way.  he gets more joy out of being with his son than anything else.  he's a wonderful father and husband and i'm so thankful for him.
time to wake up..."happy father's day"

"thanks for putting together my new toy, daddy"

big foot

just in case anyone thought i might be exaggerating...

that's right...my 3-days-away-from-being-16 months-old son is wearing a size 8 shoe.  and don't be fooled...i'm not that cheap budget-conscious parent who buys their kid's shoes a size or two bigger so i can save money and they can wear them longer.  this actually fits him with a little extra room in the front.
width-wise, that's a whole other blog post.  let's just say the selection for my baby's feet is limited...hence, the green accent on the shoe and the lack of fierce style.  hmmm...i wonder what size shoe shaq wore at this age?

am i really that parent?

you know...the one who lets their kids eat stuff off of the floor and pretends they didn't see it.  for some reason i didn't give jake his snack-trap container and instead thought hoped that i could give him the non-snack-catcher that was already washed and he would just neatly eat his cheerios and raisins.  after the photo was taken, i quietly went back to the couch, sat down and pretended i didn't know what was happening in his room.

beach bum

carm, sam, jake and i went down to granada beach for their hawaiian festival to grab some shaved ice and check out the scene.  jake was dying to get out of the stroller but he is too active right now for a place full of people.  i kind of agree with understand the parents who put their kids on those leashes.  anyway, once we let him loose, he indulged in one of his favorite pastimes...SAND!

water baby

water, water, water.  that's all he needs to be happy.  bathe in it, swim in it, or most recently...spray himself in the face. doesn't take much to entertain this kid.

new obsession...

matt bought jake this beach bucket toy set months ago but it's been m.i.a.  he found it under a pile of stuff in the garage rediscovered it and now he wants to take it everywhere we go.  he also drags it around the house and won't let it go, even sometimes to eat.  $10 at costco...who knew?

even while asleep...
